Bluetooth file transfer on HTC Touch
To set up bluetooth ActiveSync with Windows Mobile 6 you’ve got to go through a number of steps which aren’t always particularly obvious:
- Enable bluetooth on your PC and Windows Mobile device
- Create an incoming bluetooth COM port on your PC
- Go to ActiveSync connection settings on your PC to enable COM port access
- Create a bluetooth connection partnership (or refresh an existing one) to see the ActiveSync service on your device
- Open up ActiveSync on your device, go to Menu, and choose “Connect via Bluetooth”
All that because I wanted to transfer a single file from my phone to my PC.
In fact, all I needed to do was use the “Beam file” functionality in File Explorer. I’m pretty sure this was limited in the past to use Infrared only. It now supports Bluetooth and it was possible for me to transfer the file.
It’s still not a perfect solution though. After choosing the “Beam file” option, I then have to wait 5 minutes while it looks through every nearby bluetooth device and tells me it’s name. A big shame it can’t instantly recognise that I’ve got my bluetooth dongle nearby and already paired up.
There’s one area where the WIDCOMM bluetooth driver is far superior to Microsoft’s - it has bluetooth FTP support.
Hi David. Thanks to your page I’ve been able to sync up my HTC Touch via Bluetooth on my PC. Bluetooth does seem to be great in theory but temperamental to say the least!!! Cheers

Hi,
I just bought a Pioneer CD BTB200 Bluetooth car kit and tried to connect it to my HC P3300, but it does not seem to connect. All other phones seems to be working fine with this kit except my phone.
When I do a Search from the car system, it does not find my phone. But is able to find all other phones that have Bluetooth switched on.
It does connect to my phone on the Bluetooth Audio mode and am also able to play my music, but disconnects as soon as I get an incoming call.
Please help!!!!
Hey
Thanks for the add.. But I still cannot pair my phone to my PC… I don’t understand the difference between inncomming and outgoing COM-ports… I dont have an option for that, as far as I can see… I use the integrated bluetooth in HP Compaq 6910p… the only option is to use secure connection and automatic startup….
Never mind
I figured it out
again, thanks for the add
