WordPress SMS comment notications
I’ve been looking lately at how I can link WordPress in more closely with my phone with SMS or similar technology. One of the key things I’ve implemented is SMS notification of comments on my blog.
Every comment triggers an e-mail that gets delivered to my catch-all Gmail account. I’ve then set up a Gmail filter which finds all e-mails from my blog and forwards them to my Orange e-mail account (by phone contract provider).
Orange will then forward each e-mail as an SMS notification to my mobile. The only drawback at this stage being that it will only send a snippet of the subject – but I can at least see which post has received a comment.

Being an assistant scout leader, and a rookie at that, I am impressed with your pics, both quality and subject! They are terrific, I just hope that we get to do even half as much as you and your 19th Maidenhead do.

Hi David!
This is quite an old topic but since the demise of Twitter I’m really struggling to find a solution to a problem and in trawling the pages and pages which Google serves up I found this.
The problem is, I’d like subscribers to my blog to be able to receive SMS alerts to their mobile phone when there’s a new comment / post / article, etc.
Do you know if this is even partially possible? Or maybe a lengthy round-a-bout way it can be done?

Mike, how about Jaiku? If your viewers also have Jaiku then they can subscribe to your feed and get SMS notifications, which are currently still free (unlike Twitter).
