Loud

SCAR w/ nade launcher

Stinger

Claymore

Stun Grenade

Scavenger

Hardline

Ninja Pro

This is my main build, I use it about 75% of the time. Here’s why:

No aim. I find the iron sights on the SCAR assault rifle to be perfectly adequate. I used to like using the red dot sight but now I rarely have that on.

Nade launcher? This is one of the few things I change quite a bit with this build. Sometimes I bring heartbeat sensor, FMJ or ACOG. Typically the nade launcher is most useful – it’s certainly the fastest way to deal with riot shield users

I shoot down pretty much everything, UAVs, Counter UAVs, helicopters, planes and if I happen to already have a Stinger out and ready to fire I’ll try taking out the fast care package choppers too. The key point here is, yes, you can take out UAV drones and I do that very often! You may only get +50 points but the benefit for your team is well worth it. Oh, and I choose stingers over the other launchers because it has two shots.

Claymores are not just for killing! This is important, since I play so much with sound in the game, I use the distinctive “click” to notify me where players are, even if they’ve got Scrambler perk and the mine doesn’t go off straight away.

I don’t actually use flash and stun grenades very much. I throw them into bunkers and rooms every so often, and if I see an ammo pack (see Scavenger next) then I’ll sometimes throw one into the distance before I pick it up in the off chance it will hit someone. (Did you know, your aim changes to show you’ve hit someone with the grenade).

Scavenger perk is what makes this build work. Every person that dies drops an ammo pack giving me a 50% resupply of ammo (I think it’s about that, maybe more). Essentially it means I have infinite supplies of all my equipment.

Hardline gives me a little extra edge on killstreak rewards and I like them a lot, so this is my favourite secondary perk.

Ninja Pro is a key part in my gameplay! As I said, I play heavily by sound and the Pro version of this perk drastically quietens your footsteps. The counter to this perk is Sitrep Pro which is a very rare perk and makes footsteps louder again.

Louder

SCAR w/ nade launcher

Stinger

Semtex

Stun Grenade

Sleight of Hand

Stopping Power

Ninja Pro

This is my build for when I want to mix things up a bit. It’s very similar to my normal Loud build with a few exceptions:

No scavenger means I’m more careful with ammo, although stopping power helps with bullets.

Sleight of hand is good, but Pro gives quicker ADS (aim down sights). That, combined with stopping power means I can sometimes take someone out before they can aim. The sleight of hand is also great in combination with the nade launcher.

Semtex – just for a change of scene to be honest

Loser

SCAR w/ silencer

Stinger

Semtex

Stun Grenade

Sleight of Hand

Cold Blooded

Ninja Pro

Loser is my quiet build and it’s used when I’m getting my butt kicked. It’s closest to the Louder build except:

I use a silencer, Cold Blooded and Ninja Pro to stay off radar.

I use stingers to take out enemy killstreaks again, even though they can’t see me. It’s all about helping your team.

Long

Intervention w/ heartbeat sensor

N/A

Claymore

Flash Grenade

One Man Army

Stopping Power

Steady Aim Pro

There’s only a few of maps I’ll snipe on but this build is great use of OMA in my opinion:

Key point: One Man Army perk means I use this as a temporary class! You lose the ability to carry a secondary weapon but can change to another class whenever you feel like it (just once, unless that class also has OMA). I’ll spawn with it and take out a few people but typically switch to another class when they get closer (Loud / Louder). Sometimes I’ll even spawn, lay down the claymore somewhere useful, throw a flash grenade, and change class straight away.

Heartbeat sensor helps me be aware of my local environment even when I’m scoped (by sound). Red dots on radar with no green? I’ll probably switch.

I’m not a great sniper so Stopping Power helps take down targets and Steady Aim Pro lets you hold your breath longer while scoped.

On rare occasions I’ll switch the heartbeat sensor to thermal scope.

Temp

Anything

Since my main classes are so fixed, I don’t tend to mix them up too much. Here’s a few temporary classes I set up when I’m bored or to build up experience on rarely used weapons:

LMG build with any light machine gun, often with heartbeat sensor and grip (bling perk)

A runner/melee build with Marathon, Lightweight, Commando, akimbo SMGs and a pistol.

Something like the louder build but with an ACOG FAMAS assault rifle and a shotgun – for extra range

Some general tips:

As I mentioned above, you can shoot down UAV and counter-UAV drones. This helps your team significantly.

Learn the maps. I went as far as to watch a youtube walkthrough video for each map to learn some of the areas. It made me a much better player on Highrise and opened my eyes to the non-house areas on Estate.

Aim! 20% of my shots are on target according to the leaderboard stats. Even when I play lasertag games in real life I typically have a higher hit ratio than most others. I can’t say for sure if this is a) because I don’t blindfire bullets all over, or b) because I’m a good shot

FMJ is a fun weapon addition and really works. I often use FMJ on my Loud build to do clever stuff like a) blindfire through barrels, b) shoot the explosive barrel in the main Afghan bunker from outside – wiping out every in there, c) taking out people in the Terminal plane.

Blow stuff up. Blow up cars to kill people beside them, blow up any big gas cylinders (especially in Terminal and Highrise) where you know there’s someone camping.

Lie down to avoid being shot, especially when stunned. More effective against bad players.

Play dead – works amazingly well sometimes.

Turn a corner and aim where you expect an enemy to be. When you’re moving you should always be aware of where an enemy might be. There’s a bunker around he next bend? You should be aiming at the window/door already. You’re walking out into the open? Take a brief scan of rooftops or other places you expect to be shot from.

Move, cover, then move again. Your running distance is fairly short but that’s not a bad thing. Run with the intention of zig zagging (slightly) to cover. Never aim to run all the way down one street without thinking someone probably saw you walk in.

AC130 lasts 30 seconds. You can a) hide, b) shoot it down with 3 shots from launchers, or c) die lots. I typically go for b.
